Finding a client's Google review link

The one link the whole product depends on, and how to get the right one.

Starboard sends happy customers to the client's Google “write a review” form. That is a specific link — not the business's Maps listing, not their website. Here is how to get the right one.

Option A: from the Google Business Profile

  1. Sign in to the client's Google Business Profile (or ask them to).
  2. Open Ask for reviews (on the profile home, or under Get more reviews).
  3. Copy the link. It looks like https://g.page/r/AbCdEfGhIjKlMnOp/review.

Option B: from the Place ID

  1. Search the business on Google Maps, and copy the Place ID from the share link, or use Google's Place ID finder.
  2. Build the link: https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=PLACE_ID.

Check it

Paste the link in the client's settings and use Test link. It should open Google's review dialog for the right business, not the listing. Starboard only accepts https links on Google’s own domains: google.com (including search.google.com and business.google.com), g.page, maps.app.goo.gl or goo.gl.

Facebook and Yelp

For Facebook, use the page's reviews tab: https://www.facebook.com/PAGE/reviews. Yelp's terms discourage asking for reviews and its filter often hides solicited ones, so the Yelp button is off by default. Turn it on per client only if they insist.
